Lorenz Reck (he/him) was born in 1997 in the small town of Luckenwalde in Brandenburg. His story as a screenwriter began when he saw "Pulp Fiction" for the first time at the age of 15 and immediately knew that he wanted to make films too. But he only realized what kind of films he wanted to make when he discovered auteur filmmakers such as Richard Linklater and Ruben Östlund.
During the summer holidays before his final year of school, Lorenz completed his first internship in the film industry as a script supervisor in Benjamin Gutsche's writers' room. After graduating from high school in 2016, Lorenz gained further experience in various internships until he finally began looking specifically for opportunities to work in story development. In 2018, Lorenz joined StickUp Films and was involved in the development of the Netflix series SKYLINES, subsequently working as a writer's assistant in the series' writers' room. He then continued to work with StickUp Films and was involved as Jonas Rothlaender's assistant director on his documentary DAS STARKE GESCHLECHT, which premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2021.
His first work as a screenwriter, the episode MACHTSPIEL (Power Play) of the crime series SOKO LEIPZIG, was broadcast on ZDF on February 2, 2024. At the same time, Lorenz has been working with the same producers from StickUp Films, now at Iconoclast Films, since 2023 and was a writer's assistant in the writers' room for seasons three and four of the ZDFneo comedy series DOPPELHAUSHÄLFTE. He will contribute the episode UFO to the fifth season, which is currently in post-production. His new episode LOKALZEITUNG is already in development for season six.
Lorenz develops many different ideas for films and series. He wants to tell stories that viewers can identify with and be fascinated by at the same time—across all genres, always with a good drama at their core. Whether it's his own projects or those of others, the main thing for him is that the story leaves a lasting impression on the audience.
