Jana McKinnon

JANA McKINNON (she/her) JANA McKINNON (she/her) was born in 1999 to an Austrian mother and Australian father in Korneuburg, Lower Austria, and grew up in Australia and Vienna. She made her acting debut in 2006 and played her first leading role in a feature-length film in Peter Brunner's MY BLIND HEART (2013). For her leading role in the coming-of-age film BEAUTIFUL GIRL (2015), she received a nomination for the Austrian Film Award ROMY as "Best Young Actress"; she was honored in this category at the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. McKinnon was nominated for the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award in 2019 for her performance in the film WACH by Kim Frank and won the New Faces Award again in 2020 as "Best Young Actress". Sandra Wollner's existentialist-poetic science fiction film THE TROUBLE WITH BEING BORN premiered at the 2020 Berlinale and won the Special Jury Prize, in which McKinnon had a leading role. In the prime video series WIR KINDER VOM BAHNHOF ZOO, Jana took on the leading role of Christiane in 2021 and in the feature film SERVUS PAPA, SEE YOU IN HELL she playfully immersed herself as "Jeanne" in the world of a commune "in which the hippie ideals of freedom, equality and brotherhood have turned autocratic-fascist without the communards really realizing it. At the end of 2023, SILVER AND THE BOOK OF DREAMS (director: Helena Hufnagel) with McKinnon in the female lead role "Liv" celebrated its world premiere in Tallinn and Berlin and is one of the most streamed international projects on Prime Video. Für ihre Hauptrolle in dem Coming-of-Age-Film BEAUTIFUL GIRL (2015) erhielt sie eine Nominierung für den Österreichischen Filmpreis ROMY als „Beste Nachwuchsschauspielerin“; beim Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern wurde sie in dieser Kategorie ausgezeichnet. In der Prime Video Serie WIR KINDER VOM BAHNHOF ZOO, übernahm Jana 2021 die Hauptrolle der Christiane und im Spielfilm SERVUS PAPA, SEE YOU IN HELL tauchte sie als „Jeanne“ spielerisch in die Welt einer Kommune ein, „in der sich die Hippie-Ideale von Freiheit, Gleichheit und Brüderlichkeit ins Autokratisch-Faschistische gewandelt haben, ohne dass die Kommunarden es so richtig mitbekommen haben. Ende 2023 feierte SILBER UND DAS BUCH DER TRÄUME (Regie: Helena Hufnagel) mit McKinnon in der weiblichen Hauptrolle „Liv“ in Tallinn und Berlin Weltpremiere und gehört zu den meistgestreamten internationalen Projekten auf Prime Video.
